Well folks – what can I say only a huge big Thank You to you all for your votes. Last week I was notified that Dog Friendly Tours had made the the final of the UK Dog Friendly Awards in London on 20th October. Thrilled and delighted – your votes counted and as a result, from the fifty three UK businesses in the Dog Friendly ‘Days Out’ category – Dog Friendly Tours has made the final three!! To have reached this far is just super, and I’m delighted that so many of my customers have taken the time to vote – that in itself makes the tours a winner.
When I started planning the tours over 18 months ago, I had no idea that so many people would want to come on a tour. I have met over 200 dogs since then, all of them have behaved fabulously on tour. There have been big ones, and tiny ones, chubby ones and skinny ones…all absolutely adored by you their owners. This is the chinese year of the Dog, and well, it couldn’t be more true. It has been amazing to see the growth of dog friendly businesses across Northern Ireland, and the increase in awareness and understanding about how valued a dog is to the family and home environment. It’s just as it should be.
I’m also extremely positive about how Translink are becoming more ‘open’ to dog’s being onboard their trains and buses, and as the new Glider is ‘small dog’ friendly, it certainly appears as though everything is moving in the right direction like our European counterparts. I love this picture of three, (of the four) four legged tour guests who travelled by train from Bangor to come on tour. They are obviously very relaxed after their day out!
I’ve a new Winter Walk event planned shortly so keep an eye out on the Dog Friendly Tours website and social media for updates. This will be a shorter, very sociable day out during the Winter and perfect if you need your head showered, want a bit of craic and chat, and enjoy great local food.
Everything is heading towards a more dog friendly society, so thank you all once again.
Jo & Georgie.
